ABOUT FOUNDER
Gururaj Kulkarni (Nadagoud) is a filmmaker who owns “G9 Communication Media and Entertainment” – a production house, based in Bengaluru. The focus & vision of the production house is to bring Kannada literature to the silver screen.
Hailing from the small town of Sindagi in Vijayapura Taluk, Gururaj moved to Bengaluru in pursuit of higher studies. Armed with a curious mind and an inclination towards learning, Gururaj convinced his family to pursue higher studies related to computers. In a natural progression, Gururaj ended up mastering software and coding. Being one with a vision regarding the positive impact of the technological growth, Gururaj ended up building a very successful career in the software sector despite his humble beginning.
Gururaj was born into a family that not only had immense regards for arts but also deep & personal ties with some of the giants from the world of Kannada literature. Da. Ra. Bendre was such a great influence in the family that a registered family trust in his name – AMBIKATANAYADATTA VEDIKE (R), Sindagi; has been active for over 30 years. This family trust recognizes and felicitates achievers from various walks of life. Gururaj’s father Dr. B.R. Nadagoud is the President while his older brother Sharad Nadagoud and Gururaj himself are the Secretaries for this family trust.
ESTABLISHING A PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION HOUSE:
A penchant for literature and a passion for films right from his childhood meant that sooner or later, Gururaj was destined to enter the world of filmmaking. After an extensive and fulfilling career with Hewlett-Packard (HP) across several countries, Gururaj shifted to films. His filmmaking stint began as an investor & producer and later progressing to become a Writer-Director himself. 2008 had him invest in his first movie production titled “Accident”, followed by “Last Bus” in 2016. His debut as a Writer-Director was through “Amruth Apartments” which released in 2021. Gururaj’s latest project, “The Judgement“, is a film he both wrote and directed. It features V Ravichandran, Diganth Manchale, and Dhanya Ramkumar in the lead roles.
PERSONAL RECOGNITION & AWARDS:
In its 2nd Edition, The Times Group awarded Gururaj Kulkarni with the “Times Kannada Film Icon 2021” for “Amruth Apartments”.
